The Type 00 concept from Jaguar divided many opinions when it was first presented at the end of 2024. Despite the criticism, the automaker stood firm and has now announced an official launch date for the vehicle.
Although the brand’s decision was to present the concept as a starting point for a new generation of electric vehicles, its extremely minimalist and polished design did not please much of the public, who argued that the Type 00 had no attributes that reflected a Jaguar.

Even with this criticism regarding its appearance, the brand’s research and development (R&D) team was given the green light to prepare the Type 00 to be a true Jaguar—and not just any Jaguar, but the “most advanced Jaguar ever made,” said Rawdon Glover, MD of Jaguar.

The Type 00 will be a fully electric vehicle, a decision made to give the R&D team even more creative freedom, according to Glover. “We needed to free ourselves in order to fulfill the brief; to be a copy of nothing. And for us, even if we think EV won’t be the main reason for purchase, it gives us incredible speed, refinement, and acceleration,” he said.

The matte paint and sharply defined angles of the car’s exterior were described by Glover as part of a “statement” that Jaguar needed to make. According to him, its design was positioned within a broader vision of the “jaw-dropping future of our original luxury brand.”
Orders will open in North America and the United Kingdom after the reveal in September this year, with deliveries expected to begin in early 2027. Other markets will follow, as production of the vehicle at Jaguar’s UK factory ramps up.

Its price has not yet been revealed, but the team at Electrifying speculates a value above £100,000 (around US$133,000), potentially reaching £140,000 (approximately US$189,000) in less optimistic estimates.
